Dassett Rd, Avon Dassett closed from 18 December 2023

 

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984, SECTION 14

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF DASSETT ROAD, AVON DASSETT

Warwickshire County Council has made a Temporary Traffic Order details as indicated below:

Effect of Order Dassett Road, Avon Dassett is closed to vehicular traffic.
Reason for Order To safely enable installation of new water connection from main.
Order Effective from: 18 December 2023 for up to 18 months or until works are completed, whichever is the sooner.
Anticipated Completion Date: 20 December 2023
Access & Diversion:

An alternative route will be signed and is available via:

Dassett Road, Mollington Lane, Main Street, Farnborough Road, Southam Road, The Holloway, The Row, March Road, Village Road, Banbury Road and vice versa.

Vehicular access & egress will be maintained where possible.

Compton Chronicle – December and January Edition

Neighbourhood Watch Pop-up

There will be a pop up event to publicise the local neighbourhood watch event at The Yew Tree from 1030-12 on Saturday 25 November.

Keith Hicks, Stratford District Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator will be in attendance to explain the advantages of joining the local group. There will also be advice on the use of Smart Water. Depending on operational constraints, a representative of Southam Police may also be there.

 

Avon Dassett Christmas Gathering

This year’s Christmas gathering will be held at St John’s Church at 6 pm on Sunday 17 December. Villagers are invited to come to the Old Rectory for drinks from 5 pm – donations of mince pies will be welcome.

The gathering will be overseen by Father Bill and the music is organised by Sally.

All are welcome to celebrate Christmas!

Veterans’ Career Development Fund Launched

The brand new Veterans’ Career Development Fund. The £700,000 grant fund will enhance provision of qualifications, training and skills development to veterans and their families right across the UK.

Applications for up to £70,000 – live until 8th Jan 2024.

We encourage you to consider applying if you are eligible. It is essential that groups closest to the community are aware of the opportunity in order to apply, either by themselves or in partnership with more established, eligible organisations.

Particularly those who support women veterans, those of Ethnic Minority backgrounds, LGBT Veterans, those with health or support needs, early Service leavers and those aged 50+ looking to re-enter the workforce.  And those that support partners, spouses, children (aged 16-24) and the bereaved.

Avon Dassett Gardening Club Meeting – 21 November

Next meeting – Talk – “Gardening As You Get Older” by Howard Drury

When – Tuesday 21st November, 7:30pm
We welcome back Howard Drury to give us another wonderful talk. This time with some helpful tips and advice for us “as we get older”.

Our gardening club meets monthly throughout the year and annual membership for 2023 is only £15 each. This includes four talk/demonstrations at The Reading Room in Avon Dassett followed by tea and biscuits. We also have four wonderful garden visits (additional charges apply), and four social events too.

Membership also gives 10% discount for Harefurlong Nurseries (Farnborough) and The Herb Centre (Warmington).
