WRCC Ceases Trading
Warwickshire Rural Communities Council, a charity to support local rural communities, which was founded in 1937, has announced that it has ceased trading with immediate effect.
The Board of Trustees made the following statement:
It is with deep regret that we inform you that WRCC has ceased trading with immediate effect due to significant financial pressures.As a result, all Community Transport bookings, including those scheduled throughout December and into early 2026, have been cancelled. We understand the disruption and disappointment this will cause, and we offer our sincere apologies to everyone who relies on our service.A formal notice has been posted on our website, which explains that our immediate thoughts are now with our dedicated staff who have sadly lost their jobs so close to Christmas. There will be job losses and the closure of services such as community transport, warm hubs, support for village halls and local housing initiatives.

Avon Dassett Christmas Gathering
The Avon Dassett Christmas Gathering will take place at St John The Baptist Church on Sunday 14th December at 5 o’clock.
This year drinks will be in the church first as will Father Christmas and his sack!
A few mince pies would again be gratefully received.
At the end we will hope to collect a tidy sum towards the church lighting fund – next year could be better illuminated!

Avon Dassett Collection for the Poppy Appeal Raises nearly £500
The Avon Dassett collection for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal raised £495.25!
Huge thanks to all who donated and for Maria, Marveen and Rosie who carried out the door to door collections.
Dassett Country Show Raises £6800 for Good Causes
ATTENTION…FANTASTIC NEWS TO REPORT!!!!
The Dassett Country Show is very pleased to announce the money raised and donations being made from the 2025 show and this is all because of the amazing support we get from all of you!
This year we raised £6,800.00 for our two chosen charities, local groups and projects!! Our two chosen charities for this year are Warwickshire Wildlife Trust and Band of Builders and they will each be receiving £1,500.00 and we know these are funds that will be put to very good use. On top of that, this year we had 18 groups and projects apply for funding and we’re thrilled we can help support them.
The groups and projects are:
Banbury Rotary Club, Fenny Scouts, Dassett Pottery, Avon Dassett Gardening Club, Parkinsons, Avon Dassett Reading/Book Club, Avon Dassett Playground Equipment, Winston’s Wheels, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Mill Arts Centre Banbury, Avon Dassett Christmas Gathering, Avon Dassett Mens Club, Avon Dassett website maintenance, Friends of St. John the Baptist, Fenny Compton Parochial Church Council, Fenny Colts Football Club, Dassett Alpacas and Avon Dassett Children’s Christmas Gifts.
This is what the Dassett Country Show is all about, putting on a fun day out for all of you and helping to raise money to support charities, groups and projects in the local communities so a huge THANK YOU to all of you that made this possible!!

Avon Dassett Website Receives Grant from Dassett Country Show
Huge thanks to everyone who supported Dassett Country Show this year. Countless good causes have benefited from the funds raised at the Show over the years, and we are pleased to announce that Avon Dassett Community website is one of them!
The Country Show Committee have provided a grant which will go towards the maintenance and hosting of the website (by Stratford District Council). The website is run by volunteers and relies on grant income and donation to keep it running.
