Setting a new Rural Agenda

As the dust settles on the recent election, Rural England are keen to find out what the key issues are that matter to people in rural areas. Supported by the Rural Services Network, Rural England have commissioned a short survey with CCRI.

It is vitally important to hear your opinions and experience of life in rural England so that we can start to shape a new agenda for the countryside.

You should complete this survey individually. If there is more than one person in your household, please encourage them to also complete the survey as their opinions may differ.

We would also request that only people aged 15 or over complete the survey.

As a thank you for completing the survey, RSN are kindly offering an Amazon voucher worth £10 to 10 lucky respondents chosen at random. The survey will close on 23rd July.

Who are we?

Rural England is a Community Interest Company whose mission is to build the strength and resilience of rural England by helping to inform and engender better rural policy making. Our core activities are independent research, networking and information exchange.

The Rural Services Network (RSN) is the national champion for rural services, ensuring rural areas have a strong voice. We are fighting for a fair deal for rural communities to maintain their social and economic viability for the benefit of the nation as a whole.
For this survey, we are working with our research partners, the CCRI, at the University of Gloucestershire. The information provided by you in this questionnaire will be used for research purposes only. It will not be used in a manner which would allow identification of your individual responses, nor are we asking any questions that would allow you, or your household, to be identified.

Luna is Still Missing – Please Read this Post!

Luna is a rescue dog who went missing in the Avon Dassett area at the end of May. She is still being sighted locally but is wary of people. So please keep an eye open for her and follow the instructions on the poster.

Please Help Our Local Pre-School!

The current Abacus Preschool Nursery building based in Fenny Compton is in urgent need of replacement. Although they share the school site, Abacus is a charity and as such relies heavily on fundraising for major projects such as the build. This is where you can become involved!

They are replacing the building this summer, ready for September 2017 and are asking local businesses, individuals and families to support us. Maybe your children or grandchildren have been to Abacus or will in the future, you may have friends working at Abacus, or you simply think it’s important to have local Preschool facilities for the next generation. Whatever the reason we would be extremely pleased if you can help us reach our target.

To get involved in Adding up for Abacus just choose which level of donation suits you best and donate via their JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Abacus.

Names of donors will be added to a new abacus within the new building.

Have you seen missing dog Luna?

Luna went missing around Avon Dasset/Burton Dasset area yesterday (1st June). Can anyone visiting the area or in the area could look out for her. She is a collie/spaniel and quite shy, she wears a purple collar. 07919 408827- please call this number if you see or hear anything. It will go through to Matthew Pugh.

She was last seen at about 1.30 am on 2nd June wearing hi vis pink harness on the road through the village towards the hills turning. Unfortunately she ran into the bushes before she could be caught.
