Avon Dassett in 1911

Three years before war broke out, the decennial census was held in 1911. This gives an indication of the character of the village at the outbreak of war. The population in 1911 was 202 (roughly the same size as today). The main employment for women was domestic service and for men, agricultural or farm work, as it had been for the last century.
