Avon Dassett Seniors Lunch

The Avon Dassett Seniors Lunch, hosted by the Dassett Country Show committee will be held on Thursday 7th April. A welcome drink will be served from 12 noon followed by a 2 course sit down meal at 12.30pm.

The menu will be:

  • Home cooked ham and parsley sauce, mashed potato and vegetables
  • Homemade Bakewell Tart and cream
  • Tea or Coffee
  • To include a small glass of wine or beer or soft drink (orange or lemonade) alternative

The cost for seniors (residents aged 60 or over) will be met by Avon Dassett Fete Committee. However, friends, younger villagers and those who would prefer to pay are welcome to come along (space permitting) and be served the same meal as above at a cost of £22.

If you would like to come along, please confirm by phoning The Avon, Katie and Steve Chick (01295 690080) as they will be compiling the attendance list. Please mention if you have any specific dietary requirements. It would be a great help if you could tell them if you are attending as a Senior or not so that they know who will need a separate bill on the day.

Bookings should be made no later than 48 hours in advance and any cancellations need to be advised to The Avon by 9.30 am on the day to avoid a change for ‘no shows’ being made.

Support Farnborough Playground!

The playground in Farnborough is very popular with families from all around the region. It is recognised as one of best well equipped free to access play grounds in our area. It is now in need of some improvement and Farnborough Parish Council have been lucky to secure a grant from a new scheme: Tesco’s Bags of Help initiative.

https://www.groundwork.org.uk/sites/tescocommunityscheme

They have been awarded £8k to spend but based on a free vote in these Tesco stores:

5812: Middle Road, Banbury Express
6338: High St, Banbury Express
2064: Banbury xtra

it could be increased to £10k or even £12k. Please vote for this popular local project from the 27th Feb-6th March.
